Migraine is a neurological disorder with the main symptom being severe headache.
Nausea and hypersensitivity to external stimuli are also common.
There are two types of migraine: with and without aura.
In migraine with aura, the migraine attack is preceded by a harbinger phase and an aura. Migraine pain is usually located on one side of the head, is pulsating and lasts between 4 and 72 hours. Women are more likely to suffer from this condition.
Causes of migraine
The causes of migraine are not fully known, but it is thought to be associated with excessive serotonin secretion.
Migraine has its beginning already in childhood, and the strongest symptoms occur with people around 40 years of age.
Migraine Symptoms
Symptoms that indicate migraine (phase I) :
general fatigue and breakdown, irritability, alternating occurrence of good and bad mood, lethargy, fatigue, decrease in motivation to act.
Symptoms of migraine aura (phase II) :
reduced vision, dark spots, dark spots, image distortions, snowing. Less often there is body numbness, a feeling of "current" running through the body.
Symptoms of migraine (phase III) :
severe headache, throbbing, most often unilateral, eye pain, nausea, photophobia, hypersensitivity to sounds, decreased appetite.
Migraine treatment
In addition to drug treatment, it is very important to have a proper lifestyle and to avoid migraine triggers, which include: sleep deprivation, stress, improper diet, noise, and strong smells.
